Gorgeous Girls!

Need we say more...

Joys of the Holiday Season!

Decorating the tree. Aoife loved every part of this -- going and getting the tree, taking ornaments out of boxes, putting them on the tree (and taking them off again)...

Portland 2009 Christmas Tree Lighting -- Make sure to watch the whole video, it gets really great toward the end. Aine was there, too, she was just snoozing in the carrier against Mommy ;)!

Zoo Lights -- freezing but fun, brrrrr!

Mommy and her girls back indoors and toasty warm after zoo lights. You can see that someone was a little traumatized from her ride home in the car seat. But, check out those cute little cheeks, we've been working hard on those ; )!

Just hangin' out on a cold winter's morning, lovin' each other -- thank goodness for nice warm jammies.

Not so sure about Santa. Aoife was so excited to meet Santa before she actually sat in his lap, then her stranger anxiety set in a little...

Sportin' my new boots! -- We have had many a day where she insists on wearing these new boots, rain and cold or no.

Warming up after sledding a little out on Mount Hood...it was like 20 degrees, pretty darn cold!!!Fun, fun! Stay tuned for more on the holiday festivities!

We love you,
James, Maggie, Aoife, & Aine

Darling Girls!

A quick update on our girls.

Both are growing sooo quickly. Aoife is nearly 19 months old now! Is that really possible?!?!? At her 18 month appointment she was 33 1/2 inches (87%) and 22.5 lbs (25% -- our skinny mini). I swear she has already had another growth spurt since then, either that or her clothes are shrinking : ). At her two week appointment Aine had already grown nearly an inch and was 6 oz. over birthweight. At three weeks old I think she is finally as big as Aoife was when she was born ; ). She is looking great, more and more alert every day, and sweet as can be.

Here are some clips I have been wanting to share, the videos are a little old at this point, but just great all the same.

Had to share these pictures, as you can see, painting pumpkins is serious business.

She wasn't sure about this activity. She did it for a while, and then wanted mommy to finish. The pumpkin turned out cute as can be.

Our busy little bee! Happy Halloween!Aoife had a great time 'Trick-or-Treating' at the shopping center down the road. It really was a lot of fun for all of us. We are so excited about the holidays this year, especially after seeing how much Aoife enjoyed Halloween!

We love each other sooo much!

Aoife is an amazing big sister! Someday Aine will know how lucky she is.

Aoife discovers The Cheiftans!

We are excited to start dance lessons, as you can see!

That's all for now.

We love you!

Announcing: Aine Maeve Stuhan

Hello world! We just arrived home with our new little one about 4 hours ago. Since then we have been playing with Aoife and getting settled as a bigger family! We are all healthy and happy, albeit a little bit tired. Here are just some quick stats and pictures for now.

Aine Maeve Stuhan (pron: awn-ya mave)
October 23, 2009 - 7:56 am (18 months, to the day, younger than Aoife)
At two weeks early, she is still quite a respectable size: 19 1/2 in. & 7 lbs. 5 oz.

She is already a great little nurser and picks up her head and moves it around, she also has a great little set of lungs ; )!

Mommy and Daddy love me!My big sister loves me, too! Hugs and kisses!

Just a quick update for now and then we are going to try to get a little rest. Aoife is adjusting to being a big sister quite well. She is excited about the baby, has already "held" her a couple of times, showered her with hugs and kisses, and in anxious to help at any chance she gets. She is also thrilled to have Mommy and Daddy back at home! We are tired and, as well as we can tell, Aine is too. She is snoozing and eating, eating and snoozing, just as little ones should! We'll let you know when we have more to share.

Love,
James, Maggie, Aoife, & Aine

The Beginning of Fall Fun!

Well, the weather is changing, which brings both good and bad. We'll just share the good...

Aoife gets to wear fun jammies -- nice and toasty warm, with feet. We actually got her a little toddler bedding set to help keep her warm (a blankie and pillow set). We haven't taken the side of the crib down just yet, but that will be happening soon, too. She is becoming quite the little climber. Anyway, you only get a glimpse of her fun pjs here, but the point was actually to capture her crazy bed head. I think we managed to do so : ). She was also being such a little ham for the camera; what a great smile!

We went to a pumpkin patch a couple weekends ago and Aoife picked out her pumpkins. She also got to go on a tractor ride and even rode a pony! She wasn't so sure about riding the little horse at first but got really excited the more she rode, she didn't want it to end.

Not sure about this tractor...
Just checking things out here at Roloff Farms.
Do I want this one?How about this one (heave)?!?
Hi everybody!I do like this, Daddy!

So, as you can see, we had a great day for picking pumpkins! The weather has really started to change though, and that means more time spent inside. Which also means that we will have to start figuring out some creative ways to pass our time. The other morning, as I was making her breakfast, Aoife showed some initiative in this area ; )...

Our kitchen is currently under construction (more on that later), notice we have no oven...
It's kind of like a puzzle.
I ran out of fizzy water cans, Shredded Wheat will work.Stopping for a snack.

We hope to get one more post done before Aoife's little sister arrives, but we can't make any guarantees there. She could arrive anytime, that might just be wishful thinking on my part though : ).

Thanks for checking in!

Un abrazo,
James, Maggie, Aoife, y bebé Stuhan

Window Art and Other Things ; )

Grandma Bernie is here helping out Maggie and spending some time with Aoife. She got Aoife some window markers that proved to be an outstanding hit! Aoife loved the new medium for her art ; ).

This is video of "Day 2" with the markers. Aoife had filled the windows so we talked about washing them and why, then we went ahead and did it. So, in the video you can see that she thinks it is time for them to be washed again (she keeps singing, "wash, wash"). She has become quite diligent in cleaning up after herself. If she, or anyone else for that matter, spills something she immediately runs to the drawer where she knows the kitchen towels are kept proclaiming, "mess, mess," and then returns to the site to clean up ; )!

What a sweet girl!

Otherwise we have been up to fun things. Not as many as we might like, Maggie has continued to struggle with the pregnancy and will be glad when it is over! She is on "modified bed rest," until after week 35, but both mommy and baby are healthy, healthy. At 33 weeks Baby Girl Stuhan already weighed almost 5 lbs. (according to a recent ultrasound)!

Here are some of the fun shots from what we have been able to get out and do:

Melissa and Cole introduced us to an awesome local place where we can go and pick blueberries, when they're in season ; )! The first time we went Aoife ate every single berry she picked! She LOVED them! The second time she actually put half of them in the bucket -- she still loves them, we froze a bunch and put them in her muffins and morning yogurt.

I am good at this!

Okay, even though I put that one in the bucket, I need to pull it back out and eat it -- yum!

Hmmm....where should I pick next?

At Multnomah Falls, we love this place.

Playing with Daddy at St. John's Park.
Yay, ducks! Quack, quack!
Daddy, I think you're really going to like these rye crackers and this queso manchego...

Aoife delighted in playing in the sand during our latest trip to the beach!

Woo-hoo! We love the beach!

Until next time...

Besos, besos,

James, Maggie, Aoife, and Baby Girl Stuhan

Busy, busy, busy...

The title explains how all of us have been feeling. We have had lots of visitors this summer (Yay!), we have some shows we are working, Maggie has been taking classes for her master's, work has still been really busy for James, and Aoife is just blossoming...it really is a pleasure and a privilege to watch her grow. The videos I am including are a little old at this point, but they are fun! I am also going to include just a couple of our favorite pictures from the last six weeks or so.

Our little girl has gotten quite good at taking care of herself, and everyone else. She is also extremely playful, as demonstrated in this video. Part of this taking care of others can be seen in the beginnings of her imaginative play. She feeds all of her little animal friends and says, "Num, num, num, num," in a sing-song way as she does so. She also covers them up with little blankets, rocks them in her arms, gives hugs and kisses, and tucks them in, saying "Nigh-nigh." She is such a lovey little kid!

As we mentioned before, Aoife loves music and dancing. We are going to find an outlet for this ASAP. She goes to Gymboree music and movement classes for now and we are on the look out for some good dance classes to switch her into soon. The video shows her moving to what quickly became her favorite book and song. Since the video was taken she mastered all of the actions, including roaring out loud and squeaking like a mouse, oh my gosh it is sooo cute when she does either! I think that the book actually helped her to start making animal sounds in general, because now she also moos like a cow, baas like a sheep, oo-oo-aa-aas like a monkey, neighs like a horse, and pants like a dog ; )! I could go on and on, she is so much fun!

Fun at the beach!

I'll show you, Daddy.
Aoife especially loved digging her feet down into the sand, up to her ankles, and just wiggling her little toes! Starfish are super cool!

Hiking with Mommy and Daddy! Daddy gave me a great flower ; )! Thanks Daddy!
I love all my friends. -- Aoife actually sits in or on the ottoman, in a chair, or on the couch and directs us to bring her little friends to sit with her. She then positions them all around herself and sits happily, playing with them.

Aoife is excited about the arrival of her little sister. Every morning when she wakes up she wants to talk to the baby, hug, and kiss her. She says, "baby," and pulls on Mommy's shirt and then pats the baby, hugs and kisses Mommy's tummy and says the baby's name, which Aoife has insider knowledge on...more on that for everyone else later ; ).

We love you all and hope that you enjoyed the update.

We will work on being more diligent with our postings, but I won't make any promises because it doesn't look like life is going to get any less packed any time soon.

Besos,
James, Maggie, Aoife, & Baby Girl Stuhan
